Program staffed by specialist teachers and ethnic education assistants.
The EAL/D program:
- supports students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- aims to assist students to become proficient users of Standard Australian English (SAE) for interpersonal and academic purposes
- aims to improve students' educational opportunities, outcomes and participation in Australian society
We recognise that children may have been educated in English overseas, or may be truly bilingual; however they still require support to enable them to participate to their potential. The EAL/D teachers and assistants work collaboratively with classroom teachers, using a variety of approaches when working with students which may include:
- in-class support and monitoring
- intensive in-class support
- intensive small group support withdrawn from the classroom
